Sports clubs and rights holders from around the UK gathered in MediaCityUK for StreamAMG’s annual Sports Focus event on Thursday 6th December.
A wide range of football clubs from the Premier League, EFL and beyond were joined by representatives from rugby, golf, netball and several other sports, along with StreamAMG’s near neighbours, BBC Sport.
Professor Simon Chadwick – Professor of Sports Enterprise at the University of Salford – opened up proceedings with a fascinating insight into fan engagement internationally, with a particular focus on China.
He was followed by Matthew Quinn, Head of Media – Technology and Delivery at Liverpool Football Club, who talked about the club’s tech journey, which continued with the successful launch of the retooled LFC TV GO service back in March 2018.
Sports Focus was rounded off with a panel discussion around the future of VOD and live, featuring delegates from Wolverhampton Wanderers (Russell Jones, Head of Marketing), Queens Park Rangers (David Scriven, Digital Content Manager), Rugby Football League (Mark Foster, General Manager) and BBC Sport (Ben Gallop, Head of Radio and Digital).
StreamAMG’s chief operating officer, Matt McKiernan, said: “We had a fantastic turnout at the event and as such we are looking to make this a more regular series in the future.
